Benito Mussolinis Rise And Fall To Power Essays - Italian Fascists

Benito Mussolini's Rise and Fall to Power History Benito Mussolini's Rise and Fall to Power Benito Mussolini had a large impact on World War II. He wasn't always a powerful dictator though. At first he was a school teacher and a socialist journalist. He later married Rachele Guide and had 5 children. He was the editor of the Avanti, which was a socialist party newspaper in Milan. Benito Mussolini founded the Fasci di Combattimento on March of 1919. ?This was a nationalistic, anti liberal, and anti socialist movement. This movement attracted mainly the lower middle class.?1 Fascism was spreading across Europe. Mussolini was winning sympathy from King Victor Emmanuel III. Mussolini then threatened to march on Rome. This persuaded King Victor Emmanuel III to invite Mussolini to join a coalition, which strongly helped him gain more power. Benito Mussolini brought Austria on Germany's side by a formal alliance. ?In 1937, he accepted a German alliance. The name of this alliance was the Anti Comntern Pact. On April 13, 1937 Benito Mussolini annexed Albania. He then told the British ambassador that not even the bribe of France and North Africa would keep him neutral.?2 The British ambassador was appalled and dismayed. On May 28, 1937, Mussolini strongly gave thought to declaring war. He then attacked the Riviera across the Maritime. ?On September 13, 1937 he opened an offensive into British-garrisoned Egypt from Libya.?3 On October 4, 1937, while the offensive still seemed to promise success, Benito Mussolini met Adolf Hitler at the Brenner Pass, on their joint frontier. ?The two of them discussed how the war in the Mediterranean, Britain's principal foothold outside its island base, might be turned to her decisive disadvantage. Hitler suggested to Mussolini that Spain might be coaxed on the axis side, thus giving Germany free use of the British Rock of Gibraltar, by offering Franco part of French North Africa, and that France might be persuaded to accept that concession by compensation with parts of British West Africa?.4 Mussolini seemed enthusiastic and very understandable why this was the case, since this scheme included the gaining of Tunis, Corsica, and Nice (annexed by Napoleon III in 1860) from France. Hitler then hurried home to his house in Berlin to arrange visits to Franco and Petan. ?Back in the capital Hitler created a letter to Stalin inviting Molotov, the Soviet Foreign Minister, to visit early, when Germany and the U.S.S.R. might then agree among themselves how to profit from Britain not having a defense. A week later, on October 20, he left in his command train, Amerika, to meet Petan and Franco. The meeting with Franco took place on October 23 at Hendaye on the Franco-Spanish frontier.?5 It had become quite famous in the history of World War Two for Hitlers furious parting shot that he would ?rather have three or four teeth extracted from than go through that again.? Franco, who was greatly supported by his Prime Minister, Serrano Suner, stonewalled throughout the hours towards negotiation with Franco. When his train left at two in the morning, Hitler had not advanced an inch towards co-belligerency with Franco. Petan met Hitler on October 24, and proved to be equally unresponsive. Petan convinced Hitler that they had a meeting of minds. Petan had only agreed to a promise to consult his government, Hitler decided to make a bigger deal out of it and believed that they were united in a productive hostility to Britain. Hitler now had the outlines, despite Francos struggle, of a larger coalition war to present to Molotov at his next visit. ?When Hitler was waiting for the Soviet Foreign minister to come, he was distracted by the weird behavior of Mussolini, who then chose to mount an attack from Albania (occupied by the Italian army in April 1939) into Greece.?6 Mussolini said that he was motivated by the fear that the British would establish positions in Greece if he did not. ?He had good strategic reasons for wishing to deny them naval and air bases any closer to his own along the Adriatic that those who already possessed in Egypt and Malta. He attacked Greece in October, 1937.?7 Mussolini's participation in the Battle of France aroused the derision of neutrals and enemies. He was determined to win in Greece his share of the laurels which had fallen in a not proportionate number to the Wehrmacht. The failure of Mussolini's invasion of Greece greatly upset Hitler as he waited Molotov's arrival. This not only messed up his scheme to change the Balkans into a satellite zone by peaceful diplomacy; it was also Benito Mussolinis Rise And Fall To Power Essays - Italian Fascists Benito Mussolinis Rise and Fall to Power Benito Mussolini had a large impact on World War II. 3 Reasons NOT to copy your Resume Summary into your LinkedIn Summary Section!

3 Reasons NOT to copy your Resume Summary into your LinkedIn Summary Section! Many people on LinkedIn make the mistake of copying their resume summary statements into their LinkedIn Summary section.   There are three major problems with this strategy: Problem #1: Trite Phrases Often your resume summary is laden with overused phrases like â€Å"Results-oriented team player with a proven track record†¦Ã¢â‚¬ or â€Å"Dynamic, motivated self-starter with extensive experience†¦Ã¢â‚¬ If your resume summary looks anything like the above examples, please rewrite it and hire a professional resume writer if necessary!   This type of language belongs neither on your resume nor in your LinkedIn profile. Problem #2: LinkedIn Summary Real Estate You have 2000 characters at your disposal for a LinkedIn Summary, vs. three to four lines maximum for your resume summary.   Why would you choose not to use all that real estate to say something – really say something – about yourself? Problem #3: Keywords Your LinkedIn Summary is an essential place for you to insert keywords if you want to be found on LinkedIn.   By inserting a 3-line summary, you lose out on your chance to build keywords into your profile. Resume Summary Example For Resumes Only Here’s an example of a very strong resume summary statement that does NOT belong in a LinkedIn Summary (note I DO like this statement as a resume summary statement – in fact I wrote it!): LeeAnn Dance Producer    Writer Editor Award-winning television producer and groundbreaking investigative reporter -    experience covering issues ranging from pre-election to international news, with special emphasis on East Africa.   Creator and writer of highly acclaimed documentaries and promotional videos for non-profit organizations. Eight years as producer for CNN. LinkedIn Summary Example Great Model! What would a LinkedIn Summary look like for LeaAnn?   Here is the statement we wrote for her: Award-winning investigative and documentary television producer Video production and broadcast journalism have been my passions for over 20 years, ever since receiving my MS in Journalism from Columbia University. I have produced everything from groundbreaking news stories for CNN to promotional videos for non-profit organizations, and I am currently hosting a blog radio show for parents relaunching their careers. My journalism background gave me the ability to distill a large amount of material and hone in on what’s true and important. I can pinpoint the real message that needs to be conveyed, creating a human story that moves and inspires an audience. Promotional Videos for Non-Profit Organizations As a freelance video producer, I specialize in creating high caliber, professional and creative promotional videos for non-profit and educational organizations. I understand the budgetary constraints of non-profit organizations and will work within a range of budgets and scope of work. Funders respond to high quality video presentations that effectively convey your organization’s message. I will take your message, target it, and transform it into a concise and meaningful array of pictures, words, and sounds. You will then have the power of an impactful video to present your organization’s activities at fundraising events and through the web. Back in Force In addition to being a video producer, I was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years, and I am committed to providing resources to women who are returning to the workforce. The Back in Force blog chronicles my journey and shares information about the return-to-work process. Check out my weekly blog talk radio show on relaunching your career, with guests including authors, career counselors, therapists, and employers. (www.blogtalkradio.com/backinforce) What works about this LinkedIn Summary Example? Conveys LeeAnn’s story and her passion (the resume summary does not). Contains multiple keywords that will get LeeAnn found on LinkedIn. Covers the different facets of what LeeAnn has to offer. Draws the eye to sub-headings so that readers can easily see what LeeAnn is about.   The text is broken into bite-sized pieces, not so blocky that no one will read it. Has a call to action. Note that the resume summary does NONE of these five things, even though it is perfectly great as a resume summary. Can you write a LinkedIn Summary Statement for yourself that accomplishes at least four out of the five functions listed above?   If yes, great go for it!   If you need help, consider contacting The Essay Expert for a free 15- minute consultation.   We will be happy to write you a LinkedIn Summary that will help you get found on LinkedIn and have the impact you want on the people who read your profile.

How to sustain acceptable employment levels Essay

How to sustain acceptable employment levels - Essay Example So hereby, we see that country's unemployment status has an inverse relationship with the economic growth. The economic growth of a country is governed by inflation in the economy, which in turn is governed by the money supply in the economy. NSSO defines Unemployment as a situation in which all those who, owing to lack of work are not working but either seeks work through employment exchanges, intermediaries, friends or relatives or making appeals to prospective employers or express their willingness under prevailing conditions of work and remunerations. (NCERT pg 131) If we consider Milton Friedman monetarist arguments, we see that the money supply is the chief determinant of economic activities, the increase or decrease of money supply in the economy cause changes in the general price level of the economy. An imbalance in the demand and supply of money can disturb the whole economic pricing of the country. The monetary authorities should always focus on maintaining the balances, which is not an easy task, and therefore most of the countries are facing the problems of unemployment. Therefore, the root cause of unemployment is money regulation in the economy. In this new era, with the dynamic development in science and technology, we see that the levels of unemployment are governed by the price and economic growth but at the same time, there is huge disparity in the rates of unemployment, if in one part of the population, the rates of unemployment are decreasing rapidly, the other part has to face the brunt by sitting idle when they are willing to work but circumstances don't allow them. The increasing developments creates jobs for those who are A1, A2, B1, B2 part of the socio economic chart but at the same time cuts the jobs for the other part. Alas!! The situation is so ironical. However, unemployment though always mordant for the individual may be proven beneficial for the economy, it helps to control inflation and economic recession. However, the concept not only provides a safety net for people, who lose their jobs, but also pumps money into local communities and eases the effects of lay-offs. Higher the unemployment, higher will be the job valued and person's urge to stick to one job would increase, ultimately lowering down the attrition rates of the organization. Therefore, unemployment in the economy is a necessary evil for the economy.

The World of Geomatics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words

The World of Geomatics - Essay Example 5000 years ago) and it is a requirement in the planning and execution of nearly every form of construction. Its most familiar modern uses are in the fields of transport, building and construction, communications, mapping, and the definition of legal boundaries for land ownership. The basic principles of surveying have changed little over the ages, but the tools used by surveyors have evolved tremendously. Engineering, especially civil engineering, depends heavily on surveyors. Whenever there are roads, dams, retaining walls, bridges or residential areas to be built, surveyors are involved. They determine the boundaries of private property and the boundaries of various lines of political divisions. They also provide advice and data for geographical information systems (GIS), computer databases that contain data on land features and boundaries. Surveyors must have a thorough knowledge of algebra, basic calculus, geometry, and trigonometry. They must also know the laws that deal with surveys, property, and contracts. In addition, they must be able to use delicate instruments with accuracy and precision. On the subject of accuracy, a surveyor is typically held to an accuracy standard of twelve-one thousandths (.012) (12/1000) of an inch over a length of one hundred (100) feet. This means, for perspective purposes, that a professional land surveyor can be expected to complete a survey of a one hundered (100) foot circle and upon returning to the point of beginning not deviate from his or her course no more than the width of a human finger-nail. In most states of the U.S., surveying is recognized as a distinct profession apart from engineering. Licensing requirements vary by state, however these requirements generally all have a component of education, experience and examinations. In the past, experience gained through an apprenticeship, together with passing a series of state-administered examinations, was required to attain licensure. Nowadays, many states require a Bachelor of Science in Surveying, or a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with additional coursework in surveying, in addition to experience and examination requirements. Typically the process for registration follows two phases. First, upon graduation, the candidate may be eligible to sit for the Fundamentals of Land Surveying exam, to be certified upon passing and meeting all other requirements as a Surveyor In Training (SIT).. The Role of Survey Engineering in the Future Since the nation's well being in coming years will be more tied to global markets and developments than in the past, it is appropriate for the survey engineers to become more active at international and global levels as well. By playing a strong role in promoting, facilitating, and conducting international and global studies to develop critical science information, survey engineers lends support to national security as well as foreign policy and private sector interests as the following examples illustrate: The larger world population of the future will be concentrated in developing countries. Many of these people will be living in low-latitude coastal regions where urban and economic growth is most intense and where the incidence of severe natural disasters- earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and hurricanes-is more common. Moreover, the interconnectedness that is

Zara Competitive Advantage Essay

Zara Competitive Advantage Essay There is a tough competition in clothing retailers. Who has a competitive advantage in clothing retailing will be the winner. Competitive Advantage refers to a companys profit and market share. Offshore supply is one of the processes, which is used generally by clothing retailers to accomplish low labour cost, as the apparel industry is still labour concentrated industry. The supply chain in the apparel industry is compound and lengthy. Barbee and Carlyle (1999,p.85-87) states that the supply chain encompasses all activities associated with the flow and manufacturing of goods, from raw material stage through to the end user, as well as associated information flow. The longer the supply chain the additional complicated it is to handle and the more a company relay on long-range forecasts. Challenging consumers and competitive retailing have produced stress to take action with multiple refreshes per season. The focal point is on replenishment of the exact styles, designs and colors that are selling well, whilst reducing, changing or abandoning those that turn out to be less popular than forecast. This decreases the difficulty of marking down the price of less popular clothing that fails to sell in the forecasted volumes. This trend, when taken to the extreme of compressing design times, multiple refreshes, coupled with very quick response from the supply base, and all done at low cost, describes the so-called Fast Fashion market.( Nebahat Tokatli,2007) Solomon and Robolt(2004) define Fashion as a style that is acknowledged by a great group of people at the given time. They also separate fashion into four catalogues: High Fashion (Couture) Moderate Fashion Budget Fashion Mass Fashion Fashion Life cycle contains the introduction acceptance, culmination and decline of the acceptance of a certain style. The Fashion cycle is not meant for long time, it changes in very short period. It is not compulsory that to introduce fashion and try to encourage consumers buying behavior before the decline stage is very important Fast Fashion as a conception helps to take the market and attract consumer earlier than other competitor by dropping the lead-time in supply chain. CONCEPT OF FAST FASHION: The techniques companies put into practice to reduce the time gap between designing the product and the time of consumption, through product and moving away from the considered seasonal basis called Fast Fashion. It examined that the expansion of fast fashion formulas become visible indicative from a production-driven market to a market-driven characterization of the apparel sector. It is not compulsory that fast fashion is a multipart process, which involves forecast, design, effective supply chain and transportation. Best Practice as the aptitude to do things in the well-organized manner. In other words it is a way of bring about a business function or process that is well thought-out to be greater to all other known methods (Kurian,2004). From past few years, organization attempted to build up their own supply chain strategies to continue to exist in such a ferociously competitive market. There are some organizations who come up with new concepts, which help them to gain competiti ve advantages over the rest of its competitors, such as Vendor Managed Inventory, Quick Respond manufacturing, Collaborative panning, Forecasting and Replenishment, Continuous Replenishment, Efficient Consumer Response, and Just-in Time Production. It recommended that a few particular best practices relating to the study of fast fashion are: Consumer Demand and Response Supply Chain Just In Time Quick Respond Forecasting and Continuous Replenishment Effective Distribution and Transport System In recent times, Zara, a most important international clothing retailer and break new ground of fast fashion principles, held in reserve almost half of its production in Spain and Portugal, earning the reputation of being one of the exceptions to globalization. Since the 1980s, the subsistence of such exceptions has been fueling an expectation that the manufacture of high-quality fashion garments and tailored suits would stay behind in the industrialized core. Here I return to this anticipation in the brightness of the modern seminal change in the culture of fashion from ready-to-wear to fast fashion, and description that the greater than before multiplicity and fashion capability associated with fast fashion, represented by Zara, have tilted the steadiness of competitive advantage towards, rather than away from, firms in partially industrialized countries. As a number of supplier firms in countries such as Morocco, India and Turkey have gained the competence to manufacture intricate ly worked high-quality garments with the compulsory elasticity and speed, Zara has turned to sourcing from these countries. ZARA The clothing sector is fundamental to the world economy. HISTORY Zara is subsidiary of Inditex group Spanish tycoon Amancio Ortega, owns the Inditex group and Inditex group owns the following brands such as Massimo Dutti, Pull and Bear, Oysho, Uterqà ¼e, Stradivarius and Bershka. Amancio Ortega is well known Galician fashion designer. According to Forbes ranking in 2009 Amancio Ortega was ranked as 10th richest man in world and top Ranked as a richest man in Spain. He was born on March 28, 1936 in Leon, Spain. He started working as delivery boy when he was 13 year old for a shirt-maker in Galicia. During the learning period of his carrier, he realize and learned the how product and cost changes. While travelling from manufacturer to the customer. In addition, the outcome was he become more focused on the importance of getting product directly to the consumer without middle man. When he become manager of local clothing company that time he found that only wealthy individuals could afford to purchase qualitative product. Therefore, Ortega started manufacturing his own product. He started buying cheaper fabric and selling good quality. Amancio Ortega founded his own company called Confecciones Goa at the age of 27, in 1963. Especially for fine bathrobes. After that, he continued manufacturing his own companies, then open first retail shop in 1975 known as Zara. ZARA started changing the design, manufacturing and distribution process to reduce lead times and react to new trends in a quicker way that was there plus point, called instant fashions. (Chiara Pirone,2010) Product Life Cycle The product life cycle ideally follows four main steps: Birth Growth Maturity Decline Generally, a typical Product Life Cycle Curve looks like the one given in the diagram where Sales decreases as the product moves over the time line. Zaras product life cycle also follows the four basic steps but the timeline of the product in the life cycle is very different. The organization operates in fashion industry and the changes pertaining to consumers taste is very high. Therefore, the life of the trend or design is of maximum 5-6 weeks. The following figure depicts the Zaras product life cycle. Key Factors of Success The organization focuses on following factors which are their success factors: They have short lead time i.e. the clothes stay in the store for less time which in turn provides them opportunity with more and more fashionable clothes. They manufacture clothes in low quantity and supply them scarcely which clearly states that the demand for the clothes is always high. Due to short lead time they can manufacture variety of choices, variety of styles and the success ratio increases. RATE OF PRODUCT CHANGES IN FAST FASHION FOR EXAMPLE ZARA: Zara can move from recognizing a trend to including clothes in its stores within 30 days, it means that Zara can identify and catch fashion trend. Catching fashion until the time it is hot is a clear happening at full prices and less discounts. Zara progresses in stair with its customers. Zaras machinery can respond to the statement right away and 51produce a response in conditions of a new style or a modification within 2-4 weeks. By dropping the amount manufactured in each style, Zara decreases its exposure to any particular product. The additional advantage of lower quantities is that if a style does not work well, there wills minimum stock to disposed during the season-end sale. Zara discounts only about 18% of its making, approximately half the levels of competitors. Instead of additional quantities per style, Zara produces extra styles, roughly 12,000 a year. So, that style sells out more fast and there are more new styles which are already waiting to come out. Re-orders are un usual the stores look fresh every 3-4 days. Fresh manufacture, moving in step with the fashion trend and updated regularly the ingredients are just right to create the sweet smell of success. Fast Fashion strategy in Zara: Zara typically has three sections women wear, men wear and kids wear. Most of its stores were located on downtown in big cities and were characterized by large windows with modest fittings. The company position itself as contemporary fashion of medium quality at a good price(Dandrea and Arnold,2002). In order to take extra market shares in such a full of rivalry situation, Zara introduced sequential policy of way of products: Convert latest fashion into products quickly and completely in order to satisfy consumers. Zara gets a competitive advantage by offering customer stylish clothes at inexpensive prices. A team of 200 designers is accountable for turning the latest fashion into products. The collection was converted every year with 11,000 dissimilar items. In order to collect the latest fashion information, the company employed a team of trend-spotters, who travel around the world in search of new designs (Dandrea and Arnold,2002). Thus, Zaras products are suitable for consumers vary different background and taste. Continue to introduction new products in small quantities, ironically in very high speed. New products were trialed at certain stores before entering full-run production to keep failures in the full range at a rate of 1 %( Dandrea and Arnold,2002). Reduce the usual cost associated with running out of any particular item. Because the company believes that empty racks do not drive customers to other stores while stimulating them to choose from new things. Furthermore, consumers will buy more and immediately due to rapidly changing trends. As a result, Zara has increased sales and avoided costly overproduction. Zara would plan a core collection each season, constituting approximately 50% of its forecast requirements. The remaining 50%, some 10,000 items, were sourced opportunistically according to demand trends during the season and could be at any store in two weeks. Some accessories such as handbags, jewelry, shoes, thus increasing sales. CONCLUSION Zara has up and down integrated all its processes. By applying a fast fashion strategy, Zara have accomplished a unexpected increase in profits and market share. By accept the fast fashion strategy the company has been able to decrease its make down sale to 15 to 20%. In contrast, the traditional industrys average is 30 to 40%. It has been examined to be the best way to help organization achieve competitive advantages. Such best performs help Zara establish an extraordinary supply chain and become the leader of in supply chain management. The practice of implementation of fast fashion has a few advantages Quick response, reduced account and forecasting, errors, shortened lead times and reduced transportation costs. In few years, as other main competitors such as GAP, HM , Marks Spencer (MS) have experienced a difficult period due to low income and with drawls from overseas markets, Zara has maintained a continual growth in sales.

What is the importance of the description of Alison in the Context of t

In â€Å"The Miller’s Tale†, the poet Chaucer depicts the tale of a â€Å"hende† man and his attempt to tempt the â€Å"primerole† Alisoun to commit adultery and therefore render her husband, John a â€Å"cokewold†. The Miller’s Tale is just one story amongst a collection of greater works known collectively as â€Å"The Canterbury Tales†. The placing of this tale is significant becomes it comes directly after the Knight’s Tale revolving around nobility and chivalry and forms a direct contrast due to the fact it is bawdy, lewd and highly inappropriate. The tale is a fabliau, a versified short story designed to make you laugh; concerned usually with sexual or excretory functions. The plot often involves members of the clergy, and is usually in the form of a practical joke carried out for love or revenge and fabliaux are often viewed as a lower class genre. One of the central characters in the poem is that of Alison, a woman who is married to an older man called John the carpenter, â€Å"this carpenter hadde wedded newe a wyf†. Alison's attractions are suggested primarily by animal similes and she is described as radiant â€Å"ful brighter was the shining of hir hewe†. Alison’s beauty cannot be separated from her animation and vitality. This, with a hint of naivety, is suggested by the comparisons to "kide or calf" and (twice) to a colt. Alison is soft as a â€Å"wether's wolle† and her voice is like the swallow's. A supple, sinuous quality of her figure is suggested in the sim...
